Siding Built for Colorado Weather
Siding takes more abuse than any other exterior surface on a Colorado home except the roof. UV exposure at altitude. Hail strikes. Temperature swings of 60 degrees in 24 hours. Wind that shifts direction in seconds. The siding choices that work in mild climates often fail here within a decade.
We install siding chosen for Colorado specifically — materials that survive the climate and installation methods that account for our extreme weather.
Siding Materials We Install
Fiber Cement (Hardie Board)
Fiber cement is the gold standard for Colorado homes. It doesn’t dent from hail like aluminum, doesn’t crack from temperature swings like vinyl, and carries 30-year manufacturer warranties. It costs more than vinyl but lasts dramatically longer in our climate. Most of our siding projects use Hardie Board or comparable fiber cement products.
LP SmartSide
Engineered wood siding that combines the appearance of wood with resistance to moisture and impact. A strong choice for homes that want the look of cedar without the maintenance. Carries 50-year manufacturer warranties.
Vinyl Siding
Cost-effective and low-maintenance. Modern vinyl is dramatically better than products from 20 years ago, but it’s still the lowest-tier option for Colorado weather. We install it when budget is the deciding factor and the homeowner understands the tradeoffs.
Aluminum Siding
Common on older Colorado homes built in the 1970s and earlier. We replace it more often than we install new aluminum, but it has a place for matching existing siding on partial repairs.
Storm Damage Siding Replacement
Hail damage to siding is often subtle but real. Small impact marks across vinyl, dents in aluminum, cracks in older fiber cement — all qualify for insurance-covered replacement when documented properly. We inspect siding on every roofing project and include damage in the claim.
Why Installation Quality Matters as Much as Material
Even the best siding fails if installed incorrectly. Common installation mistakes we see and fix:
- Inadequate weather-resistant barrier behind the siding
- Improper flashing around windows and doors
- Insufficient gap for thermal expansion (causes buckling)
- Wrong fastener type or insufficient fasteners (allows wind damage)
- Missing kickout flashing at roof-wall intersections (causes hidden water damage)
Our crews are trained on manufacturer-specific installation requirements. We register the warranty on every project, which requires us to install to manufacturer standards.
